Hail Damage? The White Combine Strikes!

Welker Farms

232 миӊ. көрүүлөр10

Every farmer fears the white combine. We have have gone years without any and then have the entire farm totaled out in one season. Farms typically do carry some hail insurance which should cover expenses but rarely do you come out on top. Overall we are grinding away at harvest preparation and each day inching closer to being ready while the crop continues to ripen. Let's do this!

    19. Trx Power

Idk if you'll ever read this but we have had hail for 8 years in a row now. We had one come through it mowed it off you could see dirt I have pictures if youd want to see it was bad I saw a couple of dead animals laying out in the field and when it mows the grass off and kills animals you know it was bad. They gave us like 100% so now we have lost half out wheat and sunflower crop and almost all our pasture due to that one hail storm. A guy we know lost 31 quarters to it i hate the white stuff

    44. Kisner Farms

Your dad is by far my favorite person to watch! As for the kochia, when I spray for customers i run sharpen pre-plant. If it’s incredibly thick chemfallow I run 40-50oz/ac 6# glyph, 12oz/ac Dicamba, and 10oz/ac 6# 2-4-D, nothing gets through!

      1. Kisner Farms

        If its not too thick I run 30-35oz/ac 6# glyph, 8oz/ac Dicamba, and 6oz/ac 6# 2-4-D

Just Think, there are some people, who really dont care one bit about other people,, for the junk in our foods, crap added to city water supplies, un just wars, paid protesters, paid rioters, chemtrails, and the list goes on, some are greedy for money, others are just people who are mean, hate filled and evil, and it is so sad, and very shameful of them, and they just dont care one little bit, if they can make a buck, they will do wharever, no guilt, no conscious, they may not even a human soul, And.they will and do, kill, steal and destroy, they destroy in many ways, they destroy things, buildings, other peoples lives, they destroy families, and they even destroy there own lives many times, And some are governors, mayors, CEOs, street kids, college kids, mothers, house wives, members of congress, etc. They will ruin lives, for a dollar, for there cause, for power and control.

    46. zachary arnold

We should all read this slow, think deep, remember it, for it may be time, and if not exact time now, the proper time is very close. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 The Man of Lawlessness 1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us-whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter-asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. 5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. Luke 12:4-5 King James Version (KJV) 4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Many say, about some evil things done in secret, that it, they will never see the Light of day, i strongly disagree with that !!! God has determined as he said in Luke 12:2-3, that the secrets will be uncovered, the truth will come forth, and God's thought about every behavior and action will be vindicated. What's done in the dark will come to light, and thank God he has created it to operate so! Luke 12:2-3 2 There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 3 What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.

    52. Bob P

You father is too funny. Best wishes on your harvest.

    53. Jeremy Cherny

      Awe man

    54. Andrew Ellingson

So, out of curiosity, why are the combines augurs left sticking out? Is that their resting position? It seems like it's be more natural to leave them folded in. Mind you, I know nothing about farming or tractors.

      1. Robert Welker

They are engineered to be left at any angle. We had them out to get the combines closer together.

    55. Brandon Scott

Hey I’m curious. Does the value of your stuff for goes up with autographs from the actors of Welker farms?

      1. Welker Farms

I have no idea 😂 but I suppose a little, thing is when people stop watching us we may be old news and forgotten so hard to say but either way it is fun to sign autographs for fans.

    56. FarmerDan 24

As mentioned in the video the new stuff to come appears that to be a 3rd large grain silo will be going up in the near future.

    57. S. Pursell

Those old ditch witches were beasts and still are.

    58. Sr Mix Alot

Wouldn't it be easier to just toss an ultraviolet tarp over the top of that white tank instead of trying to paint it?

    59. AJ Deere T680

Look at that tonka quality skidsteer haha

    60. Harvey Stephens

Our wheat just blew over had to add pickup teeth to get under it to cut and feed into combine. That first field looked like a brush hog went over it. Bad bad. Glad y’all were not like that

    61. Harvey Stephens

Bob can I send you something at the Benjamin address? Harvey

      1. Robert Welker

        That's our road.

    62. P Seggons

Was that a Dad joke , snuk in quietly when no one was looking....... Your weather is extreme, we very rarely, in UK, get hale stones that;ll do that sort of damage. Good move on insurance, some one has a hot line upstairs.......

    63. Ricky Carter

Skid steer, Swiss Army knife of power equipment.

      1. CuriousEarthMan

        that's a good one!

    64. Ricky Carter

Old man Welker likes Looney Tunes too. 🤪

    65. Jerry

Chuck a UV-Resistant tarp or builders plastic (stuff used for exterior walls) that's black over the tanks.

    66. shop shop

3ph motors have alot of advantages, even if you use a convertor. Scott would enjoy building one!

    67. Grandpa Jim

🤙 "DODGED THE BULLET" WOW, yes OLD MOTHER NATURE comes through and all HELL breaks loose or THANK the LORD 🙏 Nice down to earth video of life on the farm. BE SAFE - GOD BLESS 😍😍😍😍😍

    68. Robert Rodriguez

For you're tanks, we use the same wrap they use on boats for storage. Black plastic. It's like shrink wrap

      1. Welker Farms

Great idea! I'll look into it.

    70. Patrick A

    73. Matthew Jackson

Another great video sorry to hear about the crops being damaged by the hail but I would certainly put my hand up to help paint the tanks on your water tender I would enjoy that and again another great video keep up the great work from your big fan down here in New Zealand

    74. Carol White

You said your batteries were low, have you ever considered battery maintainers? My husband uses them on both equipment and cars that set idle for any length of time.

      1. Robert Welker

do and have. But sometimes they don't get put on.

    75. S

Must be living right with God .

    76. Rob B

Bob, Explain the way hail insurance works. Is it a break-even, or turn a small profit? Think Hollywood pointed that you can claim a percent, vs total loss.

      1. Robert Welker

@Rob B the insurance coverage is what level you buy. Ex: For 50 dollar an acre coverage 100% loss pays $50 . 10%loss pays10. You decide what risk level you can accept and pay the premium for that level. It's not based on crop prices. If borrowing money to farm hail insurance is mandatory.

      2. Rob B

@Robert Welker About what % does the insurance cover loss? Does wheat/bean price that week be involved in any way? So say you have 100% loss. Would you turn a profit to invested planting and care?

      3. Robert Welker

They take a row with 50 plant tillers, sometimes 100. The damaged ones, whether broke or kernels stripped, to get the % of damage. So if you have 30% damaged then a $100/acre coverage would be $30 payment.

    77. ken gordinier

Your dad cracks me up FLEX TAPE LOL

    78. Larry Stockwell

Been sort of holding my breath for the farmers around here, mid west. The crops look real good everything is nice and green except for some grain turning. I know a couple minutes of hail could change all of that. Looks like God takes care of His own, the best partner you can have.

    79. Elvin Berndt

That’s one thing when you plant that crop you don’t know whether you will ever get you’re money back, course farmers are optimistic and you usually get you’re money back, that’s the gamble you take. I know I farmed for 44 Yrs here inTexas, 90 miles south west of Houston. Now retired and enjoying it. Here we worry about Hurricanes😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    80. richardj ellis

You told me that you don't need a hgv license as long as you're within 150 miles from the farm, BUT.. Do the trucks have to be at the same standard as other trucks that ply the roads across the country daily.?😘😘 UK. Rich.

      1. richardj ellis

@Robert Welker good luck for the harvest. Will have my fingers crossed for good prices next year.

      2. richardj ellis

        @Robert Welker thanks

      3. Robert Welker

they do need to be road worthy.

    81. Ronald Piper

The product you put in the tank for algi will loosen it up and the filter will be full in no time. Paint and pressure wash that get nost out gone. First

    82. Ronald Piper

Dad my Dad would like you a lot. He was quite fun with words also. The squeekie wheel gets the Grease. Was one i rember a lot.

    83. Fr. Bob Lacey

"Gotcha covered" Nice Dad joke, +Robert Welker! Nice.

    84. bilodef66

“Should run like a top, minus the huge crack in the frame....let’s not talk about that.” 😂😂

    85. Brad Morgan

We farm in Kentucky, I'm curious that wheat looks thin. What kind of yield do yall consider good up that way?

      1. Welker Farms

Compared to a lot of places we are low yielding. A good crop for us is 40 bu/ac

    86. dspangler24

I’ve been watching for quite a while now and love the videos. I use to farm in central NM but got out in 2001 after my grandpa passed away. It’s nice to be able to see what other farmers in different parts of the country raise and how they do it. So thank you for this channel and keep up the good work! God bless

    87. Bottomed Out Moto

such a great blue collar life style!

    88. Charles Old

Sorry you guys had the gail damage. Hope its not to bad. Thanks for the video.

    89. Combat_Quokka

32 thats not that hot in Wheatbelt (Western Australia) 40 (104f) od is the norm

    90. Jason Swift

Wow ok then i know the Welker family has a lot of faith in god and all that, but where is he when this sort of thing happens and he can't do anything, makes you think about who you follow and worship.

      1. Jason Swift

@Robert Welker Ok then. Let's hope for the best.

      2. Robert Welker

He doesn't stop all trials from coming. When they do it's a time for reflection of how bless we really are in this world of 7 billion people. He loves our praise coming from us during the trials. Then it's shows our rejoicing isn't just because we're being blessed with good time.

    91. Steven Start

No rain in July for you guys either. We just have had our second driest July on record when they were predicting a wetter than average winter. I think maybe China’s taking more than their fair share of the rain at the moment.👍🇦🇺

    92. Bill Macartney

My father use to say that "farming is the biggest gamble in the world, just because of mother nature, it can make you or break you".

    93. Thomas Hollingshad

hey guys how about a portable small engine ,, diesel probably , pto unit on a skid , doable? not practical? Leg Arms ... project time

    94. Verlyn Nygaard

    95. Tony Mckeage

Great Vlog, looks like you had a near miss with the hail, shame the crops have fried in the heat and yields are not up to expectation, thanks Tony

    96. Verlyn Nygaard

      1. Robert Welker

      2. august

        Love watching those two !

    98. Team Thrifty

Not sure why some people think this is an 'infomercial'.. Its the same content as its always been, presentation is better of course - more you do something, better you get... but the content is the same daily farm life. Which is great by the way! Zack Johnsons is also just as good as its always been, but he gets the same criticism... maybe its like when your favourite band gets popular and they're accused of selling out?!! I've been watching both channels for a long time and they're as good as always.. keep it up!.

      1. Robert Welker

Thank you much for that observation.

    99. Verlyn Nygaard

    100. Benjamin Turner

Man, I'm sorry guys! That must be very heartbreaking. I had tons of squirrel damage on my tiny little sweet corn patches and it hurt! Jeez. Every time I watch you guys I'm blown away by the expansive beauty of the land there. West is a different world from SE WI where I'm at. Small farms and hilly and trees.
